CODE OF CONDUCT

I will be a good sportsman. I recognize that people judge all snowmobilers by my actions. I will use my influence with other snowmobilers to promote sportsmanlike conduct. I will not litter trails or camping areas. I will not pollute streams or lakes. I will not damage living trees, shrubs, or other natural features. I will respect other people's property and rights. I will lend a helping hand when I see someone in distress. I will make myself and my vehicle available to assist search and rescue parties. I will not interfere with or harass hikers, skiers, snowshoers, or any other winter sportsman. I will respect their rights to enjoy our recreation facilities. I will not harass wildlife. I will avoid areas posted for the protection or feeding of wildlife. I will stay on marked trails or marked roads open to snowmobiling. I will avoid cross-country travel unless specifically authorized. I will know and obey all federal, state, and local rules regulating the operation of snowmobiles in areas where I use my vehicle. I WILL RESPECT AND OBEY THIS CLUB'S RULES AS IF THEY WERE MY OWN. . . . . . . . . . . . WHICH THEY ARE.

Landowners' permission is the key to snowmobiling in Vermont
Always request yearly permission for the use of private property
Never assume that your club has "blanket” trail privileges.
Devote and donate time to the wishes of these special people.
One oversight can threaten the continuity of the trail system.
Whenever possible, include landowners in club activities.
Next year's "Resolutions for Good Relations" should begin now!
Earn the respect your members want by respecting the rights of others.
Remember, Snowmobiling in Vermont is a privilege...not a right...we are all Guests and could be asked to leave; do your part as a well behaved snowmobiling citizen.
"Our sincere thanks to all the landowners who so graciously allow the N.S.I. Trail Committee to establish a route on and through" their property."
